AI Generated Image Guessing Game

Just watched my video and got tricked by one (or all) of the images?

Don’t worry — you’re not alone. AI image generation has gotten shockingly realistic… and in this post, I’m going to show you exactly how those images were made — and how you can make your own.

All of the AI-generated images from the video were created using a tool called MidJourney — one of the most powerful (and popular) AI image generators out there right now.

If you’ve ever wanted to create images that look like real photographs — but are completely fake — this tutorial will show you how.

What Is MidJourney?

MidJourney is an AI tool that turns text into images. You just describe what you want to see, and it creates it for you — often with stunning, photo-realistic results.

Step 1: Sign Up for MidJourney

  1. Head over to https://www.midjourney.com
  2. Click “Sign In” (top right) and log in using your Google or Discord account.
  3. Once logged in, you'll land on your personal MidJourney home feed. No need to touch Discord at all.

Step 2: Get Access to Image Generation

To create images, you’ll need a MidJourney subscription. Plans start at $10/month (as of this writing) and give you access to fast image generation directly from the browser.

  1. Click your profile icon in the top right
  2. Select “Manage Sub” and choose a plan that fits your needs
  3. Once subscribed, you’ll unlock the ability to prompt directly from the web app

Step 3: Craft a Photo-Realistic Prompt

Here’s the secret sauce: if you want your AI images to look like actual photographs, you need to describe them like a photographer would.

Use details like:

  • Camera type
  • Lens
  • Lighting
  • Environment
  • Mood or atmosphere
  • Style tags for realism

Example Prompt:

portrait of an elderly woman with deep wrinkles, shot on Canon EOS R5, 85mm lens, soft natural window light, shallow depth of field, warm tones, sitting in an old farmhouse kitchen --style raw --ar 3:2 --v 6

What Makes This Work?

  • Camera + lens info = Makes the AI mimic real-life photography
  • Lighting + depth of field = Adds realism and subtle texture
  • “--style raw” = Strips away over-stylized filters and gives it that “unedited DSLR” look
  • “--ar 3:2” = Uses a traditional photography aspect ratio

Step 4: Generate Your Image

  1. In the MidJourney web app, click the “Prompt” button at the top
  2. Paste in your prompt
  3. Hit Enter and wait a few seconds
  4. Scroll down to view your generated image — and save it if you love it

Want to make changes? Just tweak the prompt and regenerate. You can also “remix” images or upscale them for more detail.

Pro Tips for Better Results

  • Add terms like “bokeh,” “film grain,” “candid,” or “shot on Kodak Portra 400” to push realism even further
  • Avoid cartoon-ish or vague phrases like “digital art” or “painting”
  • Use natural environments (like “sunlight through window” or “early morning light”) to anchor the image in the real world
  • Try using real camera models and lenses (ex: “Sony A7 III” or “35mm lens”) to guide the AI toward realism

If you were surprised at how real those AI images looked in my video… now you know how they were made.

Try it for yourself and tag me with your best image. I’d love to see what you come up with!
